Funding Types

  • NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme)

    The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a federal government initiative that provides funding for people up to 65 years with a lifelong disability.

    The Speech and Swallow Clinic provides services to NDIS participants who are self-managed or plan-managed. We do not take referrals for clients who are NDIA managed.

  • Private Health Funds

    You may be eligible to receive a rebate on Speech Pathology services through your Private Health fund. Services from registered Speech Pathologists are generally included under 'extras' or 'ancillary' cover options.

    Please contact your health fund directly to determine service types and rebate amounts are included in your level of cover. You will need to contact your health fund directly to determine your eligibility for rebates.

    In accordance with legislation and advice from Speech Pathology Australia, clients are not permitted to claim a Medicare rebate and a private health insurance rebate for the same service. Clients are also not permitted to claim a private health insurance rebate for a session where you have also used NDIS funds. It is at the discretion of the payee of the service to determine which rebate they are going to use for a service and this information must be provided to the therapist during or prior to their session to ensure the appropriate information is included in their invoice.

  • Department of veteran Affairs (DVA)

    If you are a DVA cardholder, you may be eligible for up to 12 Speech Pathology sessions per treatment cycle, with a referral from your General Practitioner (GP). Once a treatment cycle has ended, you will require a new referral from your GP if further treatment is required.

  • Medicare - Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM)

    You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for Speech Pathology services through a Chronic Disease Management Plans, which is accessed through your GP.

    If you have a chronic condition that is being managed with your GP, you may be eligible for up to 5 rebates for Allied Health services per calendar year. A chronic condition is defined as a medical condition that has been or will be, with you for 6 months or longer. For any further information, please consult your GP.

  • Private Funding

    We accept private clients at the Speech and Swallow Clinic. Please see our Pricing guide for information about session costs.
